The Tennessee Titans will have back two of their offensive cornerstones for the 2020 season, but only one of them got the big deal that they wanted.

Ryan Tannehill got a four-year deal worth $118 million, but the team elected to place the franchise tag on Derrick Henry, who led the NFL in rushing with 1,540 yards.

Tannehill was really good behind center, but it was Henry who the team leaned on to get them to the postseason and into the AFC Title game.

That’s why Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu took to Twitter to blast the Titans for not paying Henry.

“Damn they paid the QB but the RB who made the QB job 75% lighter he don’t get no love,” the Honey Badger said Monday. “Boy it’s cold.”

He then clarified that he wasn’t hating on Tannehill in his response to a Twitter user:

“I ain’t hating on him. I’m just saying. 22 deserved loved they didn’t lean on tannerhill they leaned on Henry.”

Unfortunately, most teams are not in the business anymore of paying top dollar to running backs, especially coming off a season where they carried the ball a ton. It usually leads to problems down the road.

Even still, Henry deserves his money.
