The Dallas Cowboys still have to figure out what the magic number will be that will convince quarterback Dak Prescott to finally put pen to paper on a new deal. For now, they appear to be making much more headway in their Amari Cooper talks.
The Cowboys are working vigorously on securing a contract extension with Cooper, who is also slated for free agency this season. If everything goes as planned in negotiations, he is likely to re-sign before Prescott does, per insider Ed Werder.
My sense from speaking to #Cowboys sources: Team is working hard to reach agreement with WR Amari Cooper, and that Cooper and his agent seem motivated at the moment to get something done. To me, present indications are he could be signed before QB Dak Prescott.

Cooper compiled 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns in his first full season in Dallas. He has averaged 76.6 yards per game since his trade from the Raiders in the middle of the 2018 season.
Cooper is likely going to command a salary that makes him one of the five highest-paid wide receivers in the league, and his number will have an outside chance at challenging Julio Jones at the No. 1 spot in that category. Based on how he has transformed the Dallas offense, no one would argue against the idea that he deserves to be paid handsomely.

They will need to get the quarterback situation sorted out as soon as possible, but most Cowboys fans would be totally thrilled to have No. 19 back and ready to dominate NFC East cornerbacks once again.
