Bashaud Breeland Defends and Explains Himself on Twitter Following Arrest on Multiple Charges

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested in South Carolina on Tuesday for a litany of charges, including marijuana possession, carrying a bottle of alcohol in the car with the seal broken, driving without a license, and resisting arrest. Needless to say, this is a major blow for the Kansas City defense’s reputation.

Breeland, however, claims that this whole arrest was a complete setup, asserting that two officers “threw something” in his car and that he “really shouldn’t be charged.”

Breeland, who recorded 48 tackles, recovered two fumbles, and intercepted two passes last year, figured to take on an increased role in the secondary after the departure of Kendall Fuller.

Breeland is not going to accept being charged like this lying down, as he followed up his initial declaration of innocence by saying that he “knows the truth” and reminds everyone that he is innocent until proven guilty.

This can go one of two ways. Either the Police Department looks incredibly unprofessional for setting Breeland up, or the Chiefs cornerback digs his hole even deeper by asserting these charges had no merit. Hopefully, this issue resolves itself as quickly as possible.
